Lossiemouth High

 

Dandelions are the sign of the new,

Reminding me that winter is gone.

Dandelions remind me of a beautiful field

Because they’re yellow;

They make me think of the outside.

 

Roots are foundations – a string at the bottom;

They need friends to blossom;

They’re what help things grow.

They’re backstory

And they, like us, need light to shine.

 

To grow we need to progress at our own speed

Not the speed others expect us to

(Burgers help, too).

My stem needs love and encouragement.

 

Dandelion seeds remind me of Christmas

Because they look like snowflakes;

They’re like a spirit, dancing on the wind.

They remind me of those people who fit in anywhere.

I need love and flair to bud and bloom

Not create too much, too soon.

 

To avoid hate and discrimination

My advice to the nation

Is to accept yourself first

And bloom with friends and family,

Happiness and sunlight.

 

We need to be free to stand proud

So we can be proud of who we are.

 

Be confident

In moving to new places

So you aren’t lonely.

I blow you a seed of advice:

You are special.
