Grampian Children’s Book Award
This is now in its 11th year and the Talking Text Book Club once again shadowed the award, reading up to 6 books on the shortlist and voting on their favourites. This award is voted for by the pupils from Aberdeen – City and Shire, as well as Moray.
There were three of the shortlisted authors present and Cathy MacPhail was compering the event. Short video clips and messages were read from the three authors unable to attend and then the winners of the poster, book trailer and book reviews were announced before finally, after a drumroll from the nearly 400 pupils, the announcement was made: James Dawson won for Say Her Name, a spooky thriller.
The GCBA this year was really good and had a variety of different authors as they all wrote different genres. I was really happy when James Dawson won as I really enjoyed his book Say Her Name a lot and I had voted for it.
All in all this year was really fun for my last GCBA and I will miss going to them. Charlotte Moorhouse 5PS
I really enjoyed the Grampian Children’s Book Awards. I love going to the book awards because they are always really fun. James Dawson was fabulous and Dave Cousins was just as funny as last year. Jade Edwards 3k
