National 5 & Higher
This course is made up of two units: Creating Media Content and Analysing Media Content. It requires candidates to be able to use media language with confidence to demonstrate a clear understanding of the key aspects including how language is used to create meaning and what this tells us about the society that both created and received it. Final assessment involves a question paper that tests the understanding and analysis of media texts through their content and the context of their creation and reception. There is also an assignment that is externally assessed. This element requires the candidate to demonstrate an understanding of media by using their knowledge to produce a piece of media and explain their choices in relation to the key aspects.
