Most of our S6 participate in a 'Service Period' which takes place every week on a Friday period 1.

The purpose of the Service Period is to give pupils opportunities to lead change across the school, thus further building their leadership skills and confidence in their own abilities to influence and implement positive change across an organisation. They are given time to meet together to plan events that improve the school experience for pupils and staff. This year, we have the following pupil committees:

• Events Committee - this group organise various events over the year, including end of term events, Christmas events and any other events they feel would be advantagous to our pupils, staff and parents
• Peer support  - many of our pupils help across the school with younger pupils in classes. Many S6s have been helping with the IDL (interdisciplinary learning) lessons that take place periods 6 and 7 on a Wednesday

This is not an exhaustive list of leadership opportunities, and pupils have the choice to change what they're doing as the year progressess, along with coming up with further ideas for change that could be planned/implemented in the service period.
