Welcome to the Modern Studies Department at Lossiemouth High School.

What is Modern Studies?

Modern Studies is the Social, Political and Economic study of local, national and international issues.

It seeks to engage students in a dialogue with the world around them. It helps develop confidence and personal opinion as active contemporary issues are explored. It questions how society is organised and how power is distributed; promoting citizenship and challenging prejudice. Its principles are at the core of the new curriculum for excellence, helping to nurture political, creative thinkers for Scottish society in the 21st Century.
