Curriculum for Excellence

LHS Curriculum rationale

Our goal at Lossiemouth High School is to improve the attainment and the achievement of all our young people.

We aim to deliver a Broad General Education to each young person in their first 3 years at secondary school. We want learning to be challenging, enjoyable and for each young person to progress at a pace that is appropriate to their learning needs.

Building on this breadth of curriculum, and supported, where appropriate, by a range of our local partner agencies, each young person will progress into the Senior Phase. Within the Senior Phase, a range of flexible progression routes leading to formal qualifications and awards are offered.

Within the entirety of our curriculum, the development of Literacy, Numeracy and Health & Well-being help provide young people with the skills they require for learning, life and work.

Before leaving Lossiemouth High School it is our aim to provide for each young person, the offer of specialist career advice and guidance. This will aid them in their progression, hopefully, onto a positive and sustained destination and prepare them for life beyond school.
