Pupils spend 1 period per week in the Business Education
department, covering a basic ICT course
S3/S4
Pupils spend 3 periods per subject per week in the Business Education
Department.

Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 Administration
S5/S6
Pupils spend 5 periods per subject per week in the Business
Education department.

Higher Business Management
Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 Administration

Courses:
S1/S2
Basic ICT course using Microsoft package of Word, Access, Excel,
Publisher, PowerPoint, Email and Internet. There is an Enterprise
exercise towards the end of S2.
S3/S4
Standard Grade Business Management - basic course outlining how
businesses operate, their location, finance, types of business, marketing,
etc.
NQ Administration (Intermediate 1 and 2) - a comprehensive course regarding
the management of the office. This is predominantly practical with a
third of the course as theory.
S5/S6
NQ Accounting (Higher) - a comprehensive course in Financial and
Managerial Accounting. Recording of financial information, forecasting
for future years, etc.
NQ Business Management - a comprehensive course in the management of
business covering topics such as Decision-Making, Finance, Marketing, IT in
Business, Operations, etc.
NQ Administration (Intermediate 1 and 2) - a comprehensive course regarding
the management of the office. This is predominantly practical with a
third of the course as theory.
Help with Revision:
Study classes provided as twilight classes of one hour for Standard
Grade and NQ subjects. Business Management students are directed to
suitable newspapers, websites, etc.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
Occasionally there is the opportunity for Higher Business
Management students to visit businesses and there is also the opportunity to
take part in Business Dynamics - an educational charity for Business
students.
Anything Else:
We are an Equal Opportunities Department and all courses are
available to both boys and girls. We have an "open-door" policy
allowing students to drop in when they have problems.
