All pupils within S1 and S2 receive two periods a week where expressive and design work is taught in separate blocks. Pupils also study critical skills using mind maps and writing frames. Pupils evaluate their own work and the work of others.
In S3/4 all levels have three periods, either one single period and one double or three singles.
In S5/6 all levels except Advanced Higher have five periods, 3 single and one double.
Advanced Higher is mainly self-study with tutorials. There are also opportunities to link with Moray College on a Monday afternoon and with Moray Art Centre for Life drawing.

S5-S6 - Higher Still Courses include Intermediate 2 and Higher
We are also hoping to begin this year to offer Photography Units at both Intermediate 2 and Higher levels

Homework/Revision
The department operates an open door policy to pupils in need of advice on the subject. The department operate a year round study lunch time on a Tuesday and Thursday between 1.15 and 1.45pm which is open to all years who may need help, advice or access to facilities to complete class work or to do homework.
We also offer more concentrated study time during the months of January, February and March, one Saturday each month, in the lead up to the examinations period for S4, 5 & 6.
Pupils’ are also issued with a department sketchbook which is used both for class work and for homework. Pupils’ are expected to treat these as their “art jotter” and to bring them to each class.
Exam question examples are available on the "Student - Work Out" drive, accessible only from the school network.
